Industry Update: January Google Core Algorithm Update

Ryan: Hi, I’m Ryan from The Clix Group. We’ve recently caught wind that Google has made a core algorithm update. Now, how this effects you…

You may or may not see some fluctuation in your rankings over the course of the next couple of months. Google, every once in awhile, will make a change to its algorithm, meaning it uses a different set of criteria or it announces that it’s going to use a different set of criteria when scanning, crawling your site and then establishing credibility of your website to the users keyword search query.

So, you may have heard from us in the past or from other SEO experts, terms like the Panda Update or the Penguin Update. Basically what this means is that Google has changed its algorithm to make sure as it’s scanning your site, that it’s discrediting any sites that may have what’s considered spammy information. Maybe there’s spammy backlinks? Or spammy things going on on the backend of your website.

Now, Google hasn’t released any further information on what this Google Core Algorithm Update entails and what it incorporates, but what we do know, is that it has taken place.

So, we’re going to monitor it over the course of the next couple of months and if we can come up with any sort of information to better explain what changes you may see we’ll be sure to let you know. But for now, you may or may not see some changes and we wanted to let you know.
